31 Days of Blog Design Tips & Tricks : day 1

Blog Design.

I have a little blog design business so I figured I would share a little of what I know on that topic and join in on the “31 days” of posting at the same time. {There are so many bloggers participating in this little link up party – I’m #704!}

I’m a couple of days late to the party so some days I’ll have more than one post, so please bear with me… and if you’re not at all interested in spiffing up your blog just ignore these posts and come back for my other random musings… I’ll still keep on posting those little nuggets, too.

You’re welcome.

On with the show!

How to pick blog colors

There are few decisions that are more important than the color scheme your blog is going to use.

Don’t get too crazy with the colors!

You should choose 3 or 4 colors for your blog, and use only those colors, or shades of those colors. Decide ahead of time which colors you’re going to use, and stick to it.

Some sites can beautifully pull off a lot of colors, but for the majority of us, a few colors will do just fine.

I would suggest picking one color for your blog post & sidebar titles, one for your background, one for your text and one for your links. Your banner/header can contain any combination of those – but remember, less is sometimes more.

Where to Find Color Inspiration

Inspiration can come from anywhere. Always keep your eyes open for color combinations that you like. Examine photographs, pay attention to the vibrant colors of nature, and most importantly, keep experimenting!

    Looking forward to being inspired & making changes! I’m ready to read, and take your posts to heart. My blog is not even close to how I’d like it to look and feel. Here we go…

    Oh my goodness, I’m so glad I found you! I came over from the Nester. I am not loving my blog. That sounds harsh but it’s mostly from a free template plus $15 I paid for a custom header using my own photo. I don’t have the cash or expertise to make it what I want yet. I’m hoping your series can help!
