Scheduling

I have been on bit of a non-blogging stretch lately. I consider myself lucky to post at least once a week, and sometimes I couldn’t even manage that. There’s just so much “life” happening right now, plus the added responsibilities of being self-employed, it’s been a whirlwind lately. So to rectify that and get Carrie Loves back on track I’m creating a post schedule of sorts, nothing too over the top, but enough to get my mojo back.

Last Friday I posted the first of my new Fabulous Font Friday posts. Going forward I hope to share with you my very geeky fascination with fonts.

Let’s just keep going backwards shall we, I’d hate to start being normal now…

Thursday…

Wednesday…

Tuesday…

Monday I’m keeping free because that tends to be my busiest design day – because Saturday & Sunday are included in that day’s work, funny how that works out. If time allows I’ll post spontaneously on Mondays – that’ll be awesome!

Okay, so I’ve got nothing for Thursday, Wednesday & Tuesday and a whole day to come up with a plan… What would you like to see more of? Blog tips? Favorite Pinterest pins? Bunny rabbits? Naked men? Oh, sorry not that kind of blog.

I need your help!

But seriously, let me know your thoughts, leave me a comment or shoot me an email.

All of these fonts are FREE!

Enjoy.

New Custom Design // Pencil Wings

One of my most recent custom design customers – Beth from Pencil Wings. Let me tell you a little something about Beth, she is so organized & together she already had a blog inspiration board ready for me over on Pinterest. I was so happy about this I’m thinking about encouraging all of my customers to do this… the help of visual aids along with verbal/written information is invaluable.

Beth offered up 1. color palettes, 2. artistic images for her sidebar labels, 3. a photo of her phone cover as inspiration for her logo, 4. font & graphic ideas, 5. with an emphasis on clean, simplistic layouts.

Be sure to check out her blog and her photography & journaling, they’re both beautiful.

Nerd DIY // Remove the Grid Loop from WordPress theme

nerd diy - how to remove genesis grid loop

With the updates to WordPress and Genesis themes I was no longer in love with the grid loop, that fancy code that turned some or all of your posts in to teasers – shortened text with a thumbnail image. With the updates it changed things and I wanted it gone, but didn’t want to go through the hassle, time & energy of formatting a new theme – have mercy! It took forever, but finally found the answer on how to do it super quickly & easily.

  1. You need to log on to your FTP hosting account
  2. Go to =>> YOUR-BLOG/wp-content/themes/YOUR-THEME/ and then change the name of the home.php file to home.txt.
  3. And, that’s it!

Gloriously no grid loop – all blog posts – all the time!

Check me out, I’m old school blogging again… being fancy was just not in my cards (for the moment).

Blog Crush // Hip Hip Gin Gin

I saw that 2nd image on Pinterest and clicked over to her site. And, spent a lot of time there looking through all of the lovely posts… it’s hard to stop! Each one is just as interesting as the last and you don’t want to miss out on anything.

My favorites are these quotes… I love the mix of vintage photos + quotes, plus the use of different shapes, colors & borders… if you notice those kinds of things – it’s visually genius. Check out Hip Hip Gin Gin.
