New gradient templates

I was inspired by Katrina’s post last month about Pretty Gradients, and I created some really pretty premade Blogger templates for my shop.

subtle gradient blogger templates

To purchase: Beach Living, Spring Living & Hello Lover.

To see a live demo: Beach Living, Spring Living & Hello Lover.

I was only able to maneuver the gradients from side-to-side, rather than at a diagonal or up-and-down, because most of the browsers would cut off the gradient after so many pixels and start over – that looked really choppy, but luckily the horizontal or side-to-side gradient didn’t have that pesky problem.

All 3 templates have a subtle gradient, nothing too dramatic, as well as some pretty cool features. And if gradient isn’t your thing I offer to remove the gradient at no additional charge and replace with white or another color of your choosing.

If you’re nerdy and want to know the CSS I used here it is:

/* IE10 Consumer Preview */
background-image: -ms-linear-gradient(left, #ffffff 0%, #EFD9E9 100%);

/* Mozilla Firefox*/
background-image: -moz-linear-gradient(left, #ffffff 0%, #EFD9E9 100%);

/* Opera: */
background-image: -o-linear-gradient(left, #ffffff 0%, #EFD9E9 100%);

/* Webkit (Safari/Chrome 10) */
background-image: -webkit-gradient(linear, left top, right top, color-stop(0, #ffffff ), color-stop(1, #EFD9E9));

/* Webkit (Chrome 11+) */
background-image: -webkit-linear-gradient(left, #ffffff 0%, #EFD9E9 100%);

/* W3C Markup, IE10 Release Preview */
background-image: linear-gradient(to right, #ffffff 0%, #EFD9E9 100%);

I know, nerdy, but so cool!

washi tape keyboard

This one is mine, taken with instagram… I have a long way to go! 4 down, 97 to go! Whoa.

I just bought my first set of washi tapes from Oh, Hello Friend on Monday (they were having a sale) and it arrived yesterday. I also ordered an address stamp from them, but that takes 3 weeks to create & deliver. But, I’m thinking I’m going to need a bigger variety of tapes.

We’re also prepping my in-laws house for an estate sale… the amount of stuff a person acquires over the years is amazing… the amount of stuff an organized hoarder acquires is mind-boggling. We’re also thinning out our stuff, that would normally be saved for a garage sale or donations, and adding to the estate sale. Hopefully the sale will go off as planned and everything should be back to normal by February. Fingers crossed!

What projects are keeping you busy this weekend?

Sparkle

dont let anyone ever dull your sparkleI created a Society6 account about 5 months ago and kind of forgot about it. Until they sent me a much larger than normal deposit from recent orders.

Hello!

It’s not a huge amount of monies, we’re talking under $150, but when you consider I only make about $3 on each sale… that’s a whole lotta business! I dusted off the cobwebs of my account – I had to reset the password because after exhausting all the usual suspects, I just gave up.

I have a few graphics in my shop, mainly for iPhone cases, but the best seller (ahem, only seller) is the “Don’t let anyone EVER dull your Sparkle” and it’s sold both iPhone cases and art prints!

I’m just wowing myself over here.

Oh, another random thing that makes me happy, visiting new to me blogs and seeing a set of my free social media icons in their sidebar… it gives me a warm happy feeling that just can’t be beat.

Have you had any pleasant surprises lately? Please share the love!

new carrie loves banner handwriting

There are some blogs out there sporting amazing handwritten logos. They’re beautifully scrawled across the top of the blogsite, lots of flourishes and crisp lines. Some use fonts and some use their own handwriting. One in particular, MaieDae, I discovered via a sweet email exchange, uses her own handwriting. While that temporarily bummed me out, because the easy solution would have been to download a new font and voila! So, I dusted off my Wacom Bamboo and searched for about an our for the pen that goes with it, because sadly any old pointy object will not do the job, and practiced.

It took a while, but I discovered I write better with a bigger sized (photoshop) brush, my favorite being the calligraphic oval 7px. Anything smaller looked rickety. And if I had to pick up my pen/brush for any reason it was better to start a new layer and move them around afterwards because my virtual spacing is a mess. But, all in all I think it turned out lovely.

Pop over to see it at the top of my blog!

Oh, and if you haven’t already be sure to download some awesome FREE fonts for your blog or website!

shelbi awabdi designs business card

I worked with Shelbi to customize one of my Blogger pre-made templates and turn it into a custom design for her blog, store, photography website & business cards. Then, she posted the photo above on her Facebook page and I just had to share! She does her own photography and it’s just beautiful.

Her jewelry is gorgeous, too, be sure to check it out!
