I love Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, and some of my favorite episodes are of him & Justin Timberlake singing… but who knew John Krasinski could hold his own with Jimmy? He’s great.

First off, Netflix having original series is totally awesome. I am a huge fan of how they offer up every episode of that season all at once. That is like TV crack times a million. I watched House of Cards a couple of months ago and that was great, I really liked it. That show, with all of it’s amazing actors, gave you the seedy, slimy, but still very glamorous side of politics.
And, I’m not a habitual Netflix watcher so when I heard they had a new series out, Hemlock Grove, I was excited to give it a go this past weekend. And, in true addict behavior, I finished every single episode by Sunday night. With a migraine. That I still have lingering residual effects.

But, even though I watched the last couple of episodes with one eye closed, note the migraine, I still watched every last minute. Did I think it was great – maybe. There’s just so much that we got little peeks of that wasn’t explained for the viewer who didn’t read the book. But, it’s about werewolves & vampires and all that supernatural goodness that I love so dearly, so I’m considering getting the book to see what I missed.
And, see Lili Taylor in the back of the photo… I’ve loved her since Mystic Pizza – and am so happy to see her in new shows.
If you have Netflix and are a supernatural junkie, too, you must check it out.
I was unplugged all this weekend. Purposefully and unpurposefully… I didn’t check my mobile phone, not once. I didn’t open my laptop, not even to check email. Our home phone, which is through Vonage an internet based company, was suspiciously not working – it kept saying that our internet connection was down, but my son could use his laptop just fine.
So what did I do? I know right – it’s like going back 20-30 years before all of these modern conveniences were at our fingertips 24/7.
I sewed. We inherited/assumed a chaise lounge – which I was the only person in my family who knows what a freaking chaise lounge is! I kept asking for someone to come help me load up the chaise lounge into the truck and all I would get was blank/what the heck are you talking about stares. We finally got the ugly beast into our living room and it was promptly slip-covered. A nice off-white duck fabric.
I read. Okay, I’m kind of cheating here because I read on my Kindle, so yeah. Anyways, I finished reading the new Jane Yellowrock book Blood Trade by Faith Hunter. I loved it for all of the usual supernatural aspects, but kind of hated the angst and some of the religious aspects that were all throughout the book. A person can only take so much before it just gets depressing and you start skipping paragraphs.

I watched Movies on TV. Again, kind of cheating, but not really. The DVR portion of our Directv wasn’t working, I’m thinking this is also mysteriously internet related, though I could be wrong. But, I did watch Prometheus with Charlize Theron and Dark Shadows with Johnny Depp – which I really want to get the soundtrack for – but until then, I’m listening to my Dark Shadows playlist on Spotify.
Speaking of TV – are you watching The Following? Holy crap that’s a creepy & addictive show and Kevin Bacon is amazing. Amazing. There’s a new episode on tonight!
I rearranged. I switched my office and dining room spaces, which help immensely with giving me the room I needed to sew the slip-cover. I’m also now in the front of the house instead of the back and it’s interesting to see everything & everyone outside.
Took Lucy to the vet. Our oldest dachshund – she’s 6 1/2, who two years ago had bladder stones that needed to be surgically removed, and is now showing signs of this happening again – sparkly glittery dried pee. For now she’s being treated for a bladder infection and we’ll see where she stands after two weeks of antibiotics. The doctor is hoping the medicine will stabilize her PH levels and we’ll be able to get an accurate reading about what’s going on in her bladder sans infection.

You can see she’s already feeling more spunky… nonchalantly squeezing out the beagle for chaise lounge space.
By Sunday afternoon our DVR & Vonage was magically operational again. Strange stuff.

You gotta love a girl who can laugh at herself. And, when you trip up the stairs in front of your peers, potential employers, and bazillions of people around the world, being able to recover quickly & graciously is what’ll pull you through. Jennifer Lawrence is hands down, without a doubt, grace under fire. She has a comeback for everything and goes with the flow.
And, I love her fan-girl moment with Jack Nicholson.
Was Jennifer your best dressed at the Oscars? She was mine for sure – though Charlize Theron was a very close second, and Jessica Chastain and sparkly ginger third.
I especially loved Jennifer’s backward long Chopard necklace… very Hollywood glamorous!
p.s. We finally sneaked out and saw Silver Linings Playbook this past weekend, and loved it.

My mom posted this on her blog this morning, and I had to share… because if anything THIS will make your Monday seem not as overwhelming.
