Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

I work with creatives and small business owners to create custom designs for their WordPress.org sites. Each project is developed specifically with you in mind, and the design will be created to fit your needs. Throughout the process we will work closely together to ensure the end result is exactly what you want.

Services Offered

Answers to questions regarding the custom design process, payment information, communication preferences, website support, site back-ups, hosting, framework support, and copyright can be found below.

My design services are only for self-hosted WordPress.org sites.  If you’re on Blogger, Wix, etc. I am happy to chat and help migrate you over!

All website projects start at $3,450. Additional add-ons are available depending on the scope and size of your project.

The design process for your project begins with a questionnaire. The questionnaire will help me get an idea of your style and preferences for the design. Once the questionnaire is received, a project contract is signed & returned, and payment is remitted, I will begin the design based off of the questionnaire answers and our previous correspondence. Once an initial design is sent, you are allowed to make up to three rounds of revisions. The design process can take anywhere between two to four weeks depending on the number of edits and your response time to emails. Please make sure you are available via email to respond to design questions and drafts.

I need all of your content before we can start the project (images, website copy, etc.) If they are not already available in your current website I’ll set up a Google Drive folder for you to share them with me (or you can do this through your Google Drive account, or DropBox, etc.)

Credit card payment via PayPal is the preferred form of payment . You do not need to have a PayPal account to pay, you may pay invoices securely by inputting your credit card information directly through the PayPal website. I also accept CashApp, Venmo, and Zelle – if these are needed please let me know and we’ll make those arrangements.

Due to the nature of design work and the quick turn-around time on my projects, I require payment in advance for your project. This may be done either 100% in full or 50% at the start of the project and the remaining 50% balance prior to installation of the design.

If you wish to be refunded for the cost of a purchased item before files are sent to your email address, and/or before I have installed your template, I will give you a refund. Once your files have been sent over, or the design has been installed, I’m sorry but I am unable to offer a refund due to the digital nature of the product.

If you are at all unhappy with your purchase, please contact me as soon as possible. I will try my best to remedy the situation and find a solution that satisfies both of us.

Yes, the process is split up 20%, 40%, 40%.

20% deposit at booking (this one is non-refundable), 40% at the start of the project, and the remaining 40% once your project is completed, approved by you and ready for install. At that time the final payment is due and then install is scheduled to push it live.

I prefer to communicate by email, as it is my fastest method of contact. Once you contact me, you will get a response within 24-48 hours. During the design phase, it is very important that we communicate often so that we can get your project finished as soon as possible.

After three months of no communication, your project will be archived. To resume and complete the project, there will be a fee of $1,000.00.

I do offer phone consults when necessary, including video calls at the close of a project, though normally I prefer email communication.

After the design has been installed, I give you up to one week to test out the design and work with your website. Should any concerns arise in this time, I will do any fixes for free. This period is intended for finding errors, rather than changing the look or layout as that should be discussed during the proof process. After that set support time, any changes to the look or layout are charged at my hourly fee of $75.

As with any new design, it is strongly recommended that you save a back-up of your site before we install your new design to assure nothing is lost during the installation process. I am not responsible for anything lost due to your failure to back-up your site.

You are responsible for making an informed hosting decision based on your own research for a hosting provider.

Hosts can vary immensely in terms of service and pricing – make sure you select a WordPress hosting package. I suggest SiteGroundI personally use SiteGround to host my website and love them. They have a variety of hosting options, from Shared to Dedicated. They are also listed as a recommended WordPress‬ host on WordPress.org hosting page. Some other sites to shop around at are WPengineGreenGeeks, and FlyWheel.

You will own the final graphics and other visual elements that I create for your project. You guarantee that you either own or have permission from the rightful owner to use any elements of text, graphics, photos, designs, trademarks or other artwork you provide to me. I require a link to be displayed at the bottom of your new website or blog for the duration of the use of the design. I also reserve the right to display and link to your completed project on blog posts and through these social avenues: Pinterest, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and my website.

There are folks who make this their career… I am not one of them.

That being said I do set up your website with SEO in mind, I will add a SEO plugin to your site and complete the basic settings.

If you don’t already have a Pinterest account, it’s basically like a giant bulletin board for saving ideas and things you find online. You can sign up for a free account here.

The board you’ll create will be a virtual vision board for you to share ideas with me as your designer. It visually helps me understand what you’re looking for and the overall vibe you’d like for your website.

You can find me on Pinterest here.

Here are some boards I’ve helped curate for clients that may give you a better understanding of what you should add to your board:

Abby McDonald
Burb N Chic
Corinne Michaels
LL Brand Board
Dark Romance

In the past I would have said flatly no, that’s just not possible.

But, nowadays the answer is a resounding heck yes!

I have clients all over the USA and beyond that I’ve chatted virtually with. We can set up a Zoom call and talk about your project before we get started. We’ll also be doing it again at the end of the project to go over everything and make sure you’re comfortable with the new website design.
